Our Team
The team is comprised of six individuals with extensive experience and networks:
Stephen White (Managing Partner, Investment Committee) B.Sc, MBA
Stephen co-founded Quay Partners in 2001 after extensive fund of funds and funds management experience. Prior to Quay Partners, Stephen spent over 10 years at Macquarie Bank’s Asset Management Division in the equities investment team, where he established and invested its $220 million private equity program. Stephen joined Macquarie Bank through its acquisition of Risk Averse Money Managers, a boutique index fund manager and asset allocation adviser of which he was an owner and director.
Jake Burgess (Partner, Investment Committee) B.Sc (Hons), MBA
Jake is an owner of Quay Partners. He has extensive transaction experience at Quay Partners and is a member of several advisory boards of leading Australian Venture Capital and Private Equity funds. Jake was previously an elected member of the council of Australian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (AVCAL). He previously worked at AVCAL and prior to that, with a government Cooperative Research Centre in a commercialisation role for early stage technology.
Ian Deas (Partner, Investment Committee) B.Comm (Hons), CA(SA)
Ian has lead advisory assignments and priced international secondaries for Quay Partners since late 2008. He was previously at Pantheon for 17 years. He headed the US Secondaries Team and sat on the Global Secondaries Investment Committee. This role involved oversight of US secondary deal evaluation, analysis, pricing and valuations, oversight of US secondary deal execution, transfers and completions, deal origination and sourcing. The role also included maintaining external relationships with clients, general partners, co-investors, intermediaries and competitors. He is widely networked across all participants in the global secondaries private equity market. He remains based in San Francisco where he will lead Quay Partners US expansion.
Geoff Norman (Non-Exec Chair Investment Committee)B.Comm LLB (Hons), MSc (Sloan Fellow, MIT), CA, FAICD
Geoff is a founder of Quay Partners and chair of the Investment Committee. Prior to Quay Partners, Geoff had worked for Pantheon since 1990. In 1992, he established Pantheon’s Asia Pacific operations in Hong Kong. He is also a co-founder and executive of Stafford Timberland Limited, an international timberland fund of funds.
Dominic Tayco (CFO) B.Bus, B Law & Legal Practice
Dominic is CFO of Quay Partners, where he has carriage of fund operations and compliance. Prior to joing Quay, he worked as a tax advisor at Deloitte’s, where he advised on structuring of a Quay Partners investment in a New Zealand buyout fund. Prior to Deloitte he was at Principal Global Investors, where he had broad responsibilities for fund operations including US limited partnership structures and REITS.
Daniel Bowden (Investment Director) BCom (Hons), LLB
Daniel joined Quay Partners from the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs JB Were, where he worked for three years as an analyst across the financial institutions group and the general industrials group. In this capacity he advised on several large MBOs, mergers and capital raisings. Daniel has responsibility for assessing and sourcing investments.
Chris Packwood - (Operations Manager)
Chris joined Quay Partners in October of 2006. He is responsible for the operation of Quay Partners funds, including cash management, processing of corporate actions and performance monitoring of investments. Prior to Quay Partners he worked at Computershare for six years where he was a project manager in the corporate actions division.
