Quay Partners is a signatory to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment
Quay Partners has been a manager of private equity fund-of-funds since 2000, with private equity fund-of-funds invested in Australasia. Our clients are large complying superannuation funds and sophisticated investors. Some of those clients are also signatories to the UN PRI Initiative.
Quay Partners in early 2010 confirmed its commitment to incorporating environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) issues into our investment decisions by signing up to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing (“UN PRI”). These principles aim to provide an internationally agreed framework to help institutional investors incorporate ESG issues into investment decision making and ownership practices.
We became a signatory because:
- We believe environmental, social and governance issues are very relevant to private equity fund-of-funds investing. Aspects of this include alignment of interest, avoidance of environmental liabilities, corporate governance and reputational risk, ethical and social risk, and other considerations associated with responsible investing;
- We positively support our clients in their implementation of UN PRI and initiatives consistent with delivering best practice private equity fund-of-funds portfolios and returns; and
- As an organisation, in our own right, we also would like to demonstrate good corporate governance, sustainable office practices and standards of corporate behaviour that are responsible.
The Principles
The UN PRI is a set of 6 voluntary and aspirational principles:
- Incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision making processes;
- Incorporate ESG issues into ownership policies and practices;
- Appropriate disclosure of ESG issues;
- Promotion of Principles within investment industry;
- Working together to implement the Principles; and
- Reporting on activities and progress.
How we apply the Principles
Quay Partners is progressively applying the UN PRI to our investment activities and decision making processes. Before making an investment decision, we actively consider ESG issues.
This is an investor initiative in partnership with UNEP FI and the UN Global Compact. For more information about the UN PRI, please visit their website
